For more than 80 years, the location that now houses Fiskeriet was one of the capital`s most popular fish markets: Erling Moe.
After a total renovation of the main building in 2007, leaving the space empty, some fishermen and business people decided to go back to their roots, creating a new fishmarket.

Fiskeriet is often mentioned in international food, lifestyle and in-flight magazines. The ambitious people behind the market and seafood bar wanted to bring a little bit of the Southern European ambiance up to the cold North. By adding a bar and keeping the floor plan open, we wanted to make the best out of a rather small space. We also wanted to provide people with different ways to engage and move with the space. With colourful tiles and mosaics resembling the sea, and a large floor to ceiling artwork by the Italian artist Tommaso Garner, we hope we brought the south and the north a bit closer.
